Akagera’s lakes and acacia woodland are Rwanda’s Big Five savannah — lion, rhino, and elephant in a landscape still being restored. It is quieter than the Mara and a considered complement to Volcanoes.

Practical information
Two nights is the useful minimum. Boat time on the lakes is worth protecting in the itinerary.
